Mihai Constantin Alexandru Welcome to Pro-Bike, Berkshire's prestigous Suzuki and Yamaha dealer. Pro-Bike is an independant motorcycle dealership and first opened in January 1996. Our first premises were a small industrial unit on Brook Way in Newbury, selling used motorcycles and carrying out servicing and repairs. In those far off days we probably had a total stock of just 20 bikes. In June of that year we took on a second unit in Brook Way to house our workshop seperately and give us a bit more showroom space in the original building. The old site was quickly outgrown as our satisfied customer base grew beyond all expectation, and in January 1997 we moved to our present site in Newtown Road, Newbury. By comparison this site (an ex- car showroom and petrol station) was huge and allowed us to stock a lot more bikes, as well as providing the room required to start selling clothing. We probably had around 50 bikes at any one time.These consisted of both used machines and brand new imports. In 2000 the showroom was extended and we were given a Yamaha franchise. As a Yamaha main dealer we stocked their complete range as well as an ever growing selection of quality used machinery. The Parts and Clothing departments were moved into a seperate building adjacent to the main showroom on the site during this period, allowing them increased stock levels too. The business grew steadily over the next few years until in April 2005 we took on the Suzuki franchise to run alongside the already established Yamaha range. With an ever expanding business we had to eventually completely refurbish both buildings, with extensive remodelling to create yet more showroom space. This entailed moving the Parts and Clothing departments into the main showroom, along with the Suzuki range and our used stock. The Yamaha range was moved into the old Parts building, which was completely gutted and refurbished and is now a Premier Yamaha showroom. We can now offer a choice of over 100 new Yamahas and Suzukis, along with over 150 quality used machines. The new clothing department stocks clothing from Teknic and Ixon, Shark, Shoei, Arai and AGV helmets and if you want something special we can always order it for you. We stock a full range of gloves, boots, luggage, and waterproofs. We are a Motrax stockist for all the bolt on bits you may need and sell performance exhausts, brake pads etc. Our parts department stock all the usual genuine service items for both Suzuki and Yamaha and can order parts for just about any make of bike. Whatever you need, just give us a call!

Customer Review: An American institution unto itself, the Hell's Angels have inspired every possible reaction from outsiders, from awe, admiration and, of course, fear. No one would argue that the club is made up of choir boys. But no doubt the reality has been so intermixed with the fantastical that separating truth from myth is now almost impossible.
Sonny Barger, though, knows the truth. Although the Hell's Angels are a non-hierarchical organization without a single `leader,' Barger has been one of its more famous public faces for decades, and was instrumental in growing the club, having been there for many of its more (in)famous escapades. Barger recounts many of those adventures here, making HELL'S ANGEL an extremely entertaining read about a subculture very few of us will ever visit off the written page.
It is clear from the writing that Barger is that type who simply does not care what others think of him, and that attitude makes this book even more compelling. Some of the stories are written with the style letting us know exactly what we are dealing with. Writing of their confrontion at Berkeley of war protesters during Vietnam, disgusted at the hippies' anti-Americanism, Barger let's us know that the Angels "let our boots do the talking for us." He holds no illusions about the type of woman who hangs out with the club and describes them in such a way that would lead to a quick visit from the speech police at any modern American university. It really is hilarious.
More than just anecdotes, however, HELL'S ANGEL describes the concept of brotherhood among its members that makes it so especially tight. I once volunteered at a health clinic in Cleveland and once a Hell's Angel came in for court mandated counseling. Just released after 18 years in jail, what struck me is that, despite having been imprisoned after only a few months with the club, and despite his lengthy imprisonment, his `brothers' never forgot about him and never abandoned him. Barger describes this tight-knit community allowing one to realize that, for many of its members, it really is family. The first organization to stand firm against a RICO charge, it stood down the feds because not a single member would turn on the others.

Customer Review: Having already read Proficient Motorcycling and More Proficient Motorcycling, I decided to purchase Street Strategies despite some reviews indicating its redundancy of material from the first two books.
Street Strategies is the perfect book for your coffee break reading. It is physically small and easily fits in a desk drawer. Yes, the scenarios in the book are covered in Mr. Hough's first two books but their layout in this book allows you to jump in anywhere in the text. There is no need to start at page one and read to the end.
Just open up the book anywhere and read about a specific stand-alone scenario with Mr. Hough's expert analysis of how to handle that particular situation.
This helpful book enables both the novice and seasoned rider to maintain a good mental focus when riding by allowing you to review actual scenarios and their solutions prior to hitting the road.
Nothing will ever replace a professionally run "Rider's Education" course but this book is a nice supplement to have around.

Customer Review: I have read the entire book and have to say that 90% of it is about death and dismemberment. If you don't want your spouse to ride this is the book to give them. It will provide you with every reason not to ride a motorcycle. Lots of stats on injurys, deaths, dismemberment. Very little detail on the joys of riding a bike. I highly discourage buying or reading this book.

Customer Review: Let me start off by saying that this book does not bypass taking the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) riding class in anyway for a budding motorcycle rider. If you want to ride a motorcycle then the MSF course is a must period. The MSF class teaches you so much while allowing you to practice in a safe and calm riding environment with trained instructors at your side to ask questions and get help from. Not to mention that some insurance companies will give you a policy discount on your monthly insurance payments for taking and passing the MSF course. You also don't have to do the DMV riding test if you pass the MSF course. So in the end the MSF course is more then worth what you paid to take the course for on top of the safety and riding training you get.
Outside of the MSF course this book is a good primer to mentally prepare you for the key ideas on how to ride a motorcycle and what forces are at work while riding. Ideas like counter steering, smooth control inputs, avoiding target fixation, and a light over view of potential road hazards you might face and many more other topics are all discussed in this book. It also goes on to talk about other areas some people might not think about such as how to select a proper helmet and what to look for in riding gear. It also talks about the effects of lack of sleep, drugs and alcohol all have on a rider. I would recommend this book to anyone who has signed up for the MSF course but has not taken it or who is just interested in the idea of riding a motorcycle. In the end this is a very good primer book if not a refresher for those who have just finished the MSF course and need to brush up a little on some key concepts.

Customer Review: I'm having a hard time reading this book. I think the gems of information are in there, but I'm having work pretty hard to get them out. Why? Formatting: low contrast color choices. In some places, dark text on a dark background makes for difficult reading in low light. Clarity: the author(s) repeatedly fail to define terms precisely. I'm left to guess what they mean. A how-to book shouldn't leave the reader wondering. Ego: they seem to worship Jeremy McGrath. Call him infallible. It feels like a primary school clique to me. Bad science: For example, pg.41, tip #5: "Carry most of your weight on the footpegs to lower your center of gravity." Based on my understanding of basic physics, changing the position of where the rider's weight is supported has nothing to do with where the rider's center of gravity is. Sure it's good advice, carrying the rider's weight on the footpegs drastically improves the bike's handling, but the authors' explanation of the physics is complete nonsense. It leads me to question all other explanations. I imagine the authors know their stuff, but they've got a lot of room for improvement to communicate their ideas in print.

Customer Review: The book is great.
It doesn't contain much information about mountain bike tricks and stunts. It covers mostly cornering, types of corners and cornering tactics, but what's more important it will help you spend your "$10 attention bill" wiser.
I would suggest to read first "Mastering mountain bike skills" by Brian Lopez and Lee McCormack. Then train. When you're ready switch to this book. Learn how to use your attention, concentrate, plan your race, choose reference and timing points, visualize, read the course, make proper decisions beforehand, overcome psychological barriers, choose cornering tactic, analyze your mistakes, etc.
When you're done with it, buy and read "The Mountain Biker's Training Bible" by Joe Friel. Then train, rest, train some more, rest, train harder, rest, then race.
