Ch.20-Jb Is It Love?
by rss@youtube.com (JBIsItLovee)
1 Jun 2008 at 10:11pm

LIVING THE DREAM 3 ! Joeeeeeeee ! heh, i don't really think he's a huge nerd. I can soo relate to him:D :) "I can do this..one thing - with the stem of them..." Aralyn raised her eyebrows. She knew what he was talking about. "Really," she tried to figure out the expression on his face. His mouth was spread wide into a grin; and felt herself blush. Not that she tried to hide it, but she couldn't help but to take her eyes away for a split second. "Yeah, really. Well, i've had a lot of practice..." he took a step closer, still grinning. She let laughter escape from her lungs, and hit him playfully on his chest. "Wow. Your pretty full of yourself, you know." "I hope that's a good thing," he played, shrugging his shoulders. "W-" Aralyn opened her mouth to say something, but she couldn't really compete with what he just said. There was nothing she held against him... "That's what I thought," Nick poked her, flashing his teeth. -- Kevin and Haley were on a couch nearby; "Does it ever get tiring?" she asked out of nowhere. Kevin looked up from his guitar, "What does?" "You know-doing all these shows...playing the same songs over, and over, and over.." Haley tilted her head to the side. "Well, I can't complain. Its all i've ever wanted to do in life," he smiled lightly, paying attention to his guitar. "So you like all the freedom?" she continued with her questioning. "We don't have that much. Our parents...by our side. But in a way, I guess..we have...some kind of it." Kevin's stare was on the notes he was playing on the acoustic; not really listening to what she was saying. "You didn't answer my question," she nudges his shoulder, forcing him to bring his attention somewhere else. "Yes. Yes I do," there was a tiny sparkle lost in his eyes. "You love asking questions, don't you. Kevin smiled. "Does it bother you? Because I annoy people sometimes. You could have just--told me, I would remember not to." Haley rushed, worrying that it bothered him. "No, not at all. It makes you --- interesting." Kevin continued, struggling to find a word that matched. "But in a good way, don't get me wrong." -- Kendra avoided his eyes. "his eyes are the one thing that I can't take. i'll melt; i'll give in. oh god, those pretty...brown..eyes." she thought to herself. Joe cleared his throat, "So. Ab-about, that night." he started fiddling with his hands. "You were--well, I didn't think," he paused. "I'm-I -- didn't mean t-to, be that rude," he managed, trying a glance at Kendra; she was looking away. "I was being pretty stupid - you were...right, about me...freaking out too much," Still no sign of Kendra even listening. "M...s..ry" Joe mumbled. Kendra finally had the nerve to look at him; "Hm?" she asked shyly. "I'm..sorry." Joe gave in. "Oh........me too." she said, searching the lost look in his eyes. "No, you shouldn't be. I yelled at you; and I didn't have to. I was making such a big de-" "You were RIGHT about it, though. I would be...so...screwed, if I was...you know." she snapped. "I should have been apologizing first. If you broke that promise," She pointed at the shining silver on his left hand, "Who knows." Kendra pulled him into a hug, slithering her arms around his waist. Joe, thankfully, relaxed his shoulders and threw his arms around her neck. "That went better than I hoped it would," he murmured into her ear. Kendra blushed at the feeling of his warm breath, "I thought you would be conceited about the whole thing, honestly." He pulled away; "I would never!" Joe protested, crossing his arms, forming his lips into a pout. "Okay, Joe. Okay." she said between laughs, as they started to walk back to the others. -- Nick held a finger up, signaling to hold on, while there seemed to be something he was playing with in his mouth. Joe made his way up to him; "Nick- what are you- doing?" he questioned, confused. He turned to Kevin, pointing at Nick. he laughed; "Just watch." "Oh-I think he's-" Kendra got cut off, by Nick pulling a stem from a cherry that was tied into a perfect knot. "See? Told you I could." Nick said with a smirk. "Wow, Nick, you just proved that you can suck a dick pretty well," Joe pointed out with a joke, with laughter following behind that. "Well everyone knows that I can do way more that that." Nick said smoothly. Aralyn shook her head. "Wow." ~hahah, i just had to put the last part in :D hope no one takes it the wrong way ....

"We Don't Care At All" Crack the heart with true intentions Blood and scars and no redemption We've been a slave to your disaster Lost it all it doesn't matter And we don't care at all We got nothing to take on And leave the rest to fall We're going back where we belong Waste aways amount to nothing But your opinions keep on coming We're dead inside to your rejection Risk it all and did I mention I'll say it again I'll say it again And we don't care at all We got nothing to take on And leave the rest to fall We're going back where we belong Never doubt it Never question What we were And where we've been Scream out loud As our intentions Find a word And we don't care at all We got nothing to take on And leave the rest to fall We're going back where we belong I'll say it again And we don't care at all We got nothing to take on And leave the rest to fall We're going back where we belong

IELTS reading - understanding unknown vocabulary
by rss@youtube.com (ilsnz)
7 Apr 2008 at 5:09pm

This is one of the 350+ videos that are used in our online course. Each video is followed by practice questions and examples, building your skills in all the areas needed for IELTS. Go to http://www.ilsnz.com for more information and to try the free IELTS practice test. NARRATION: A common difficulty in the IELTS reading test is when you find a word that you do not recognise. Many candidates make the mistake of spending some considerable time reading the word and the sentence it is in trying to understand what it means. This, of course, takes valuable time and may not necessarily improve your result. However, there are seven different points that you could consider to help you deal with unknown vocabulary. The first point is that, on occasion, you will find that the reading passage has a glossary at the end, describing two or three of the key words. If there is a glossary, then you should make sure to read it carefully, as if it was important enough to give you a glossary, then the words are probably required for one or more of your answers. If there is no glossary or it doesn't explain the word you were looking at, another point to consider is whether it begins with a capital letter or is in italics. If it starts with a capital letter, then the word is probably a proper noun, for example a place or a person's name. If the word is in italics, it is probably a technical word which you are not expected to know. Here are some examples. The third point is that often in the IELTS reading test, you are given a word or words which are immediately followed by a definition, so make sure you read the complete sentence. Here is an example. If the points covered so far have not helped you understand the word, then see if you can find the word root. For example, the word 'disabled' is actually a combination of the prefix (dis) the root word (able) and a suffix (the 'd'). Focussing on the root word only, then considering how the prefix changes that root, can often help. There is a list of prefixes in the Skimming, scanning and reading in detail lesson. Another technique you could use is to work out a general meaning logically. Consider this example. What is most likely to have killed climbers who were trapped in a snowstorm? It is logical that the answer is something to do with the temperature. Sometimes looking logically at the sentence is not enough, but you should also look out for contrasting statements. Consider this sentence. The word 'yet' tells us there is a contrast, and that Maori is being brought back into daily life. Therefore the opposite of that is not brought back into daily life, to be disappearing. Moribund actually means to be on the point of death, or almost gone. The final technique you could apply to new vocabulary is to consider the word group. This may not help you find a definition for the word, but sometimes it helps to know if you are looking for a verb, noun, adjective or adverb. In this example, we can tell from the grammar of the sentence that the word is a noun because it follows 'a'. So we have a noun of Chinese students. The word contingent actually means group. The final point to remember is that having applied the seven techniques, if you still have no idea what the word is or means, then you should consider whether it is actually worth spending more time on. Remember that not every word in the reading passage is relevant to finding an answer, and even if you need this word to answer the question, if it takes you 5 minutes to answer you will have to rush the other questions.

The Jonas Brothers Life of Romance Chapter 8
by rss@youtube.com (SummerSizzle1)
1 Apr 2008 at 6:07pm

Thank You guys so much for the comments and messages. I have 5 subscribers in one week already. I know that may not seem like a lot but for only 7 chapters, it is. Anyway lets recap what happened in chapter 7. So Summer ran up to her room after Kevin had kissed her. Just for you people who don't know why she was crying, it was because she was confused who to choose from or who she could actually trust. Kevin or Joe? So here's chapter 8! CHAPTER 8 We are at the Jonas house with the boys having breakfast* Joe: Nick, pass the butter! Nick didn't answer Joe: Pass the butter NICK!! Nick again ignored him. Joe: DUDE WHATS WITH THE HEARING PROBLEM!! WHATS A GUY GOTTA DO TO GET HIS BUTTER AROUND HERE! Kevin: Ummmmm....get it himself. Joe got out of his seat and got the butter and got back into his seat. Kevin: Joe, you gotta be more sensitive to his feelings! Can't you see he's a bad situtaion now. Joe: Awwww! How CUTE! Nick's having LOVE PROBLEMS!! Joe, Kevin & Frankie burst out laughing! Although Nick headed upstairs and Kevin went up to go check on him. Joe: Well Frankster (Frankie), I guess its just you and me now. Frankie: Yup! So how are you and Summer doin'? Joe: We're doing ok. I haven't talked to her in a while. I guess its because she has been pretty busy latley. Frankie: Well she has to be busyy if she's gonna cheer me on at my soccer game. Joe: Summer goes to your soccer game? Frankie: Yup! Her and Kevin. But its a lot hard for Kevin to cheer me on when he's so busy going places during the game with Summer. Joe: Like where? Frankie: Like at the park. I scored a goal and ran over to Kevin to tell him. But then i saw him and didn't want to disturb him. Joe took a sip of his coffee. Joe: Its ok, Frankie. You can interrupt them when they are talking if you scare a goal. Frankie: But mom says its not polite to disturb someone when they are kissing. Joe spit out his coffe directly on Frankie in surprize. Frankie: GROSSS!!! Joe: They were WHAT??!!?? Frankie: You know that thing where their lips touch and lock tight and- Joe: DUDE! I know the definition of kissing. Just tell me what happened. Frankie: Ok, ok. Calm Down! So i went looking for Kevin to tell him how I scored a goal so then I find him at the park sitting on a bench with his arms around Summer. Kissing. Joe didn't find a word to say until after 3 minutes he grabbed Framkie's hand and headed to Summer's house. Knock1 Knock! Summer opens the door and finds Joe's head steaming with red hot anger. Uh-Oh. Sorry about the short chapter. By the way, i'm letting som new characters into the story. Please let me know if you want Miley in it. I'm addind four new characters and I'm gonna need some ideas. They won't be in the next chpter or the one after it but i can guantee you they will be in the story. Just send me message including: - A name for your character (It can be yours) - Its personality such as mean or nice (We are looking for a mean person mostley though but nice is also ok) - An idea for them. - their age and favorite JoBro Thanks! And send me a message. I won't be able to reply to all of your comments at once.

find a word Books
Lexical Aids for Students of New Testament Greek
by Bruce M. Metzger
Amazon Price: $8.79
Customer Review: I want to preface this by pointing out that I don't think such books are ideal for learning vocabulary. I think we process new vocabulary better when we _read_ it in context, or better yet, have a visual picture to associate that context with.

Having said that, people have criticized Metzger's work for being outdated, superseded, not having all the features other books have, etc. Perhaps the reason this little book is still so popular is because people misunderstand its virtues. It is not the amount of lexical data and mnemonic tips that made it worthwhile, only to be bettered by books with more data & tips. Metzger was a giant in the field, and while none could deny that Bauer, Spicq, and Moulton/Geden are better for understanding word meanings than Metzger's glosses, Metzger's slim volume is always ready at hand for quick, easy study.

Disney Princesses Look and Find (Look and Find (Publications International))
by John Kurtz
Amazon Price: $7.98
Customer Review: My daughter loves this book! When it is reading time, she has been pulling this one out for the past few nights. Not only is it a lot of fun, but educational. You don't have to just do the look and find of what they ask but you can also do counting and have them find colors, etc...

Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type Works (2nd Edition)
by Erik Spiekermann, E.M Ginger
Amazon Price: $24.00
Customer Review: The first thing that must be said about "Stop Stealing Sheep & find out how type works" is that its purpose is simply not clear. If it's supposed to be a book for beginners to learn about type, it lacks effective headings, and (maybe most importantly) a glossary; despite typographic differences within the text, importance of information is not well designated, which leads one to ask, how is a beginner to know what's vital? Likewise, the exceedingly simple analogies re: Type in the main text and lack of info-richness show that this book is not for the expert. So who is this book for? Therein the problem.

"Stop Stealing Sheep..." is undeniably well-designed(read: pretty); it is clear that the authors put a good deal of time and enthusiasm into creating the layout, finding and creating visual elements and atmosphere for their book. Each page has a picture of its own, so out of the roughly 159 pages (not counting appendices), 77 of them have text, subtract the mostly blank title spreads and you have 65-70 pages of actual text. And the pages that do have text don't contain a large amount; If it seems like I am criticizing the info-density of "Stop Stealing Sheep..." I am; this book may very well be a stereotypical 'airhead': gorgeous, but lacking substance.

I would like to temper the above statement by adding that the side-bars do contain some very interesting historical facts about type; the meat of the book, it seems, is in these side-bars. Another aspect of "Stop Stealing Sheep..." that I enjoyed is that the authors give a lot of visual examples; every other-page highlights the fonts mentioned by setting them below the side-bar for the reader to examine (I spent much time with this book analyzing 'handgloves' written in different type). Another way the authors express their concepts is by "showing" them, i.e. in talking about type-faces for forms(i.e. applications), the authors gave an example of a form on the adjoining page -- the amount and quality of these examples are perhaps the trade-off for the lousy main text.

Not being a viable textbook, reference guide, beginner's primer, nor coffee table book, it is best defined as a 'browsable' just above a magazine. There are a lot of good lessons in the little volume, but they are hampered by poor organization. Still, I am not of a mind to condemn "Stop Stealing Sheep..." completely, though I will be forthright in saying it is not a worthy purchase. My recommendation is t...

Japanese Core Words and Phrases: Things You Can't Find in a Dictionary (Power...
by Kakuko Shoji
Amazon Price: $10.88
Customer Review: If you aren't serious about learning Japanese, I don't advise getting this book. However, if you are thoroughly interested in becoming fluent, this is the book for you. This isn't slang--this is real life, everyday Japanese that almost anyone can use--and everyone DOES use it! The book has it's share of informal phrases, but so many of them can be used in formal and informal situations. This isn't all about idioms, it's about real-life conversational speaking! It's about grammar and set phrases that teachers have never taught you, and that so many other lessons just love to skim over or skip completely! Instead of saying, "He's ok, but he might die," you learn to say, "He's ok right now, but the doctor says that if worst comes to worst, he might die."

It also gives GREAT explanations between "wa" and "ga," that many students of all level struggle with, along with ample explanations of the uses of "no."

To be honest, I'd rate this book 4.5/5 stars instead of 4/5. But, since I can't...

The only minor-flaw that this book has is it's lack of quizzes or any other study-friendly things. Although I can't really blame the book, considering it would be incredibly difficult to make a quiz for this. The author gives enough example sentences for you to remember most of the things you learn, and, if you read through the phrases a couple times, you can remember the main part of it, if not the whole significance itself. I'm not a person who can just sit down and memorize a dictionary. This is not a dictionary to begin with.

I highly recommend this to anyone studying Japanese, from upper-beginner to advanced students.

The Etiquette of Illness: What to Say When You Can't Find the Words

More Than Words Volume 3: Homecoming Season\Find The Way\Here Come The Heroes...
by Susan Wiggs, Karen Harper, Kasey Michaels, Catherine Mann, Tori Carrington
Amazon Price: $11.16
Customer Review: "Homecoming Season" by Susan Wiggs. Miranda survived breast cancer partially due to the help of her family; now she needs to repay them by living life to the fullest.

"Find the Way" by Karen Harper. The mugger left Miranda blind and feeling helpless. To regain some of the freedom she once had, she decides to obtain a seeing eye dog, who becomes more than an aide.

"Here Comes The Heroes" by Kasey Michaels. Librarian Anna sees Forest carrying an upset blind little boy to her. The child teaches Anna how to open her eyes to the world.

"Touched By Love" by Catherine Mann. Laura is so proud of her young teenage son who not only survived a liver transplant, but he tries out for a baseball team. However, when the coach out of fear for the kid's safety cuts him, Laura decides to pitch a new concept so he can swing the bat.

"A Stitch in Time" by Tori Carrington. "But Mom" works long hours and loves her children, but feels empty until the handsome doctor teaches her there is more to life than a job.

This anthology is as always one of the best inspiration collections on the market as the tales are well written heartwarming life stories while the intro to each is based on a real support organization. This year's worthy groups are Cottage Dreams (www.cottagedreams.org), Puppies Behind Bars (www.puppiesbehindbars.com), Team Activities for Special Kids - TASK (www.tasksports.org), Seedling Braille Books for Children (www.seedlings.org), and Stitches from the Heart (www.stitchesfromtheheart.org).

Customer Review: This book is great for a toddler who is learning to talk to one who can read. From great photos to clearly written words, this book is a must for car rides. Find Out About China: Learn Chinese Words and Phrases and About Life in China...
by Zheng Qing
Amazon Price: $10.39
Customer Review: This is a terrific resource for children about China and Chinese. I am an ESOL teacher with many Chinese students in my classroom. This is a great book for them to look over and share their language and culture with me and other students in the classroom. I wish there were more books like this in other languages.

Plans To Prosper You: Find Your Purpose Through Jeremiah 29
by George E. Sayour
Amazon Price: $13.49
Customer Review: Have you ever found yourself discouraged, lost, or questioning God? For me, this book came at a much-needed time. You could say I was more than just a little disappointed with how my life had turned out. After earning successive degrees in psychology, I was dismayed to find that my career didn't provide the fulfillment I had hoped for. In fact, I had this sick feeling in my gut that I was hasty in choosing my life's direction. I felt cheated and victimized, and resentfully passed blame for my situation. My relationships began to suffer. I knew I was in trouble and needed help.

I received Plans to Prosper You as a gift, and as I turned through its pages, I found a companion in George Sayour and his story. The author's writing style was warm and empathic to my situation, and as he detailed his life's ups and downs I found some consolation in the similarities. His analysis of God's promises was comprehensive, hermeneutically accurate, and yet accessible. George's engineering background also shined through and provided an altogether unique perspective and illuminated familiar passages of the Bible in new ways. His open and honest approach felt more like sharing a coffee or a football toss with a new friend than anything else.

The author's story has been a huge encouragement in my own life as I have been seeking God's plan for me in the art industry. Personally, Plans to Prosper You illustrates that, far from having His hands tied leading the orbital trajectories of the planets and stretching the cosmic fabric of the universe, God is near, and deeply concerned about our lives and the glories they produce. Listen to George tell his story, and you'll be lifted above the claustrophobic perspective of self-pity and hopelessness to a panorama of purpose and, yes, prosperity.
