This beautiful story has inspired my son to listen for music in the city as we go through our day. He often wonders aloud how Mozart would use a certain sound(like say for instance, our city bus) if Mozart was composing a new piece of music. We love this story.

Customer Review: Don't buy this book if you have the "Big Book" because most of this book is IN that book. My other problem with this book is that it is acting as though these experiments prove something when most of the time, at best, it may get the children thinking more about the topic and then you, yourself can explain the "why". ie: Why do lightening bugs light up? they tell you how to build a cute model of a lightening bug using a light stick. Building this model proves nothing, but there is a connection in that lightening bugs use a chemical reaction to create their light, as does the light stick. The exercise doesn't illustrate this connection in any way. Still, they are fun and easy, and will get the kids thinking, but you'll have to do a lot of follow-up or combine other media to help the kids find any of the answers this book is supposed to be offering.

Customer Review: The story "Hobo Finds a Home" is a short story about a farm cat with want for a better life. The overall story is good for children, and the illustrations easy to understand. A main message that stood out for me was that sometimes we are not born into the life that is the one we truly want. Sometimes we have to seek out a better life and also be adventuresome, unafraid of life. Looking at it from a child's perspective, "Hobo Finds a Home" is an enjoyable bedtime story for ages eight and under. My favorite image is of Hobo playing "lion". Does he get the mouse?

Customer Review: If you like to get out with your camera and take some excellent hikes and pictures this is a very well rounded book. Good directions, descriptions of the falls and even suggestions for the best way to photograph the falls. Most of these are not road side falls so if you are looking for that, you might be disapointed but that is not the fault of the author, the majority of the "good" falls are not on main highways!
