The Healthy College Cookbook: Quick. Cheap. Easy. by Alexandra Nimetz, Jason Stanley, Emeline Starr Amazon Price: $10.17
Customer Review: This cookbook is fantastic! As many other reviewers have said, the recipes truly are quick, cheap, and easy! It also contains very helpful advice for cooking newbies (like me) along with these great recipes. I have probably made about 15 of the meals in this book so far (with some repeats), and there really hasn't been one disappointment: my roommates and girlfriend like me more than ever. ;-)
Well worth $10.
Cheap. Fast. Good! by Beverly Mills, Alicia Ross Amazon Price: $10.17
Customer Review: Who isn't hurting financially? The first thing to cut is always the grocery list. So I started searching the library and bookstores for ways to make good food CHEAP! This is it. ANd it's fast and easy. Gone through at least half the cookbook and havent found a single bad recipe yet. These are foods that my kids will eat! My hubby doesn't complain about! Some great recipes, wonderful advice and many items are things I already have in my pantry or freezer.
Wish she'd come out with another one!
Time Out Cheap Eats in London (Time Out Guides) by Time Out Amazon Price: $9.56
Customer Review: London is no longer about pie n mash, fish n chips, mushy peas, roast beef n yorkshire pudding - or jellied eels! Thank goodness for that,as we have to live here! And nobody wants to come on vacation to eat only that!
This book gives a true, budget update of what people really want to eat (including olde worlde English carveries and traditional stuff) in a carefully-chosed cross-section.
We enjoyed plotting out all the places and didn't find any that were closed!
The Student Cookbook: 200 Cheap And Easy Recipes for Food, Drinks And Snacks ... by NICOTEXT Amazon Price: $9.95
Customer Review: This is a really good book. The reason it's a four and not a five is because the 50+ drink recipes are alcholic, and there's only 7 smoothies! There's no pictures in the book, but the text is easy to follow. It doesn't have an index or a table of contents, instead it has a quick guide page which are categorized into "Really Hungry", "Date", "No Money" ...
I would definitely suggest first making the "Very Difficult Muffins" and the "Brownies for Dummies" when you get this book. The "Italian Grilled Cheese Sandwiches" is a nice spruced up basic.
Get it if have some spare $$. Also look at: How to Repair Food

Jerry Baker's It Pays to Be Cheap!: 1,973 of the Niftiest, Swiftiest, and Thr... by Jerry Baker Amazon Price: $23.96
Customer Review: Granted nothing much is new in this book and you could find the same thing in dribs & drabs around the Internet or at your old granny's knee. The great thing here is that it's all in one book and sorted out for you.
I do think the price is a bit steep. And I think Jerry Baker could serve his readers a lot better by putting out spiral bound books. Much easier to manage.
Eating Cheap by Ragnar Benson Amazon Price: $15.00
Customer Review: 5 stars for the Author Ragnar Benson. I regularly recommend any of his books. This book rates only 4 stars for its topic, but this is still a must read. I enjoyed it. Another valuable tool to survival. Nothing more enlightening to the effect of philosophies of eating than comparing China and India. With sound philosophy the book demonstrates how a society can starve or prosper. In the continueing chapters Ragnar shows you the practical aspects of eating for free, or for a whole lot less. He provides many specific useful examples as well as a lot of general ideas.I personally would like to free up some of the grocer cash for other endeavors. Eating and staying alive is serious business. If nothing else buy the book for its included recipes. I look forward to to trying many of them but nothing makes me laugh like contemplating a plate of Cat Caccitore. Bon appetite.[may you not be]"lazy dumb, or both"-Benson
Good Cheap Food by Miriam Ungerer Amazon Price: Customer Review: I first picked up this book in the '70's when I was living "off the land" in Colorado. It worked then as well as it does now; with time-tested, not be be had elsewhere, recipes. I still find myself caught up in her funny, entertaining writing style. And the recipe for Brunswick Stew is not to be left untested!
