A Middle Tennessee man could face federal hate crime charges after he was videotaped making racial slurs and waving a gun. A neighbor in La Vergne videotaped a confrontation between Tim Taylor and Mark Winker on Friday. Winkler is heard on the video calling a black man a nigger. At one point, he showed a gun to threaten Taylor, a neighborhood handyman who is black. Winkler, who is white, also had a noose hanging on the front porch. It also appears that he tried to sic his dog on the handyman. Police charged Winkler with aggravated assault but neighbors want to see the stronger charge of a hate crime. "You can't tell me anywhere in America where people are allowed to hang nooses in their front yard, run around calling Mr. Taylor the N word constantly," said Julia Pinkston. "And they're flashing a gun at him in a threatening manner. How is that not a hate crime? Pinkston videotaped the recent confrontation because she was fed up. She said she wanted to show how Winkler constantly harasses Taylor. "Every time Mr. Taylor is out in the yard the yard trying to work, Mr. Winkler makes it a point to get into his car, ride around and call him the N word," she said. "I don't like it," Taylor said. On Friday, Taylor said the comments and the noose got him into a rage. At one point, Winkler took out a gun. "Makes me angry. Call me n**** and all that, saying 'white power. I got white power,'" Taylor said Winkler shouted at him." he said. Neighbors said it's not the first time they've had problems with Winkler. They've filed vandalism and harassment reports with local police, but they said, Winkler wasn't charged.

Customer Review: After reading many reviews on here, I bought this book wondering what I'd get. It seems that most reviews here are either very strongly liking this book or very strongly not liking it (it's a kid's book for gosh sakes!)
Anyway, my son loves this book! It's the perfect size to hand him in the car or leaf through and talk about at a restaurant while waiting for food. The book is silly and fun- so please lighten up if you're not sure what a "corn car" is or whatever. Richard Scarry wasn't afraid to use his imagination, and was a lot of fun as a result.
It's an inexpensive book that takes a few minutes to flip through. Golden, in my eyes!

Customer Review: The clearest thing I'll take away from my reading experience of "Snow Falling on Cedars" is simply how fast it took me to race through it. I like to take my time reading books - especially if I find them enjoyable - but I found myself speeding through the chapters of David Guterson's debut novel at an alarming rate. It was nearly impossible to put down thanks to the clear yet sophisticated prose, the intriguing and well-paced "whodunit" aspect of the story and the slow unraveling of both the minds and motivations of the characters, which is exceptionally well done. So yes, I definitely recommend this book!
When the novel first opens, we are introduced to a range of people living on San Piedro, an isolated island in the Pacific South-West. All somewhat enigmatic at first - to the reader, as well as each other - we are gradually drawn into their lives, childhoods, relationships and personalities, as the community is drawn together over a particularly controversial murder case. Kabuo Miyamoto is on trial for the murder of the well-respected fisherman and war veteran Carl Heine, due to bad-blood between the two men, and the fact that Miyamoto was (by his own admission) the last man to see Heine alive, out on his fishing boat.
But it soon becomes clear that there is more to this trial than first appears: it is the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbour, and there is an unspoken assumption that Miyamoto's Japanese heritage jeopardizes his chances of being acquitted. A large pile of evidence speaks out against Miyamoto, and his stoic demeanor does not help matters either, despite fighting on the side of the Allies in the War. From this starting point, Guterson draws in a wide range of characters related to the case: wives and family members of both the accused and the deceased, lawyers, witnesses, community members and figures from the past. Most prominently is the character of Ismael Chambers, a journalist investigating the case, who has his own particular link to Miyamoto - or rather, Miyamoto's wife Hatsue, a young woman who in her teenage years chose duty to her people and culture over a love affair with Ishmael. Embittered by her rejection and his experiences in the war, Ishmael cuts himself off from the people around him. Yet Ishmael discovers certain facts pertaining to the case that have a tremendous bearing on its outcome - should he choose to share them.

Customer Review: This was one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books when I was little. I am 24 now and I still have my book (and yes its falling apart). I am keeping it to read to my kids someday. Cute story about a baby bird who goes looking for his mother who went out to get some food. He meets all sorts of things along the way and asks them all "Are you my mother?". I saw another review about this book saying that it was "Scarry" and I can't help but roll my eyes. I never once thought the book was scarry when I was little nor did my brother. I am sure your kids will love it as much as so many other generations have. Hey it's Dr. Seuss, you just can't go wrong! :)
